Kasbah des Oudayas: The immortality of Rabat

Kasbah des oudayas , Rabat

A universe in the arms of another, such is the last legacy of the Almoravids who still inhabits our city, Rabat , a surprisingly charming capital that is the setting of his country, Morocco.

The Kasbah des Oudayas is a living cultural and historical amalgam that is worth a visit!

The kasbah of the oudayas in the past

History was written in the 13th century: the Kasbah was to serve as a base for moroccan armies that were going to conquer Andalusia at the time, and the name of the city Rabat derives from Ribat, which was an established religious community that went to war against the "Infidles".

In 1818, the city adopted the name Rabat after the renunciation of the race of Sultan Moulay Slimane.

In 2012, the Kasbah was listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

A walk in the heart of the Kasbah

Strolling on the Kasbah, we are first greeted by the imposing Bab Al Kebir gate, a marvel that transports us directly into Andalusian culture with its massive walls and wrought iron.

This sumptuous architecture is now the last witness of another life in the same place.

However, we cannot afford to talk about the Kasbah des Oudayas without mentioning the narrow alleys that smell like the leather of the slippers and the sweet tea of the mixed Moor coffee, besides we are obliged to stop for a moment to enjoy the famous mint tea by indulging in the silences of the place as well as the stunning view overlooking the Ouedreg Bourg , the surrounding area of Salé and the sumptuous Hassan Tower.
