In addition to the many traditional souks, you can visit many places steeped in history such as the Kasbah des Oudayas built by the Almoravids, the ancient Jewish quarter of Mellah, the famous Chellah necropolis.

And what is fascinating is that none of the places that make up the Rabat medina have undergone any changes since their creation.

In 2012, the Medina district, formerly the city of Rabat, was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site

An idyllic walk in the old Medina:

A single street, Avenue Hassan ll, separates two different worlds and two totally opposite but intrinsically complementary and fusional atmospheres, in the heart of the medina, a Mediterranean atmosphere and traditional reign.

Leaving our sumptuous Riad zyo, you will go directly through Lagza Street, a colorful street teeming with small shops as well as old houses that bear witness to a rich and mysterious history.

The heart of the Medina continues to beat for an eternal past, by flanking the place, you will be magnetized by the smells of steams of the hammam and that of fresh mint mixed, which will lead you next to Ferran znaki (the oven of the alleys ) where you will stop naturally to taste the famous hot bread and buns that are part of Moroccan culinary culture.

Continuing your walk you will see the artistic workshops that distinguish the alleys of the Medina, besides you will notice the patience of these artists selling their works for little and listening politely to the remarks of people who never buy anything but who can spend hours criticizing their work .

And a few steps away, you will find yourself at the street of consuls which houses small workshops, thus allowing craftsmen to maintain their know-how and their art, where the shops compete with tricks of presentation .

It is also home to a few motels and kissariats housing leather workshops.

<img
